Sunan Ibn Majah 3523
It was narrated from Abu Sa’eed (RA) that Jibra’il came to the Prophet (ﷺ) and said: “O Muhammad, you are ill. He said: ‘Yes.’ He said: Bismillahi arqika, min kulli shay’in yu’dhika, min sharri kulli nafsin aw ‘aynin aw hasidin. Allahu yashfika, bismillahi arqika (In the Name of Allah I perform Ruqyah for you, from everything that is harming you, from the evil of every soul or envious eye, may Allah heal you. In the Name of Allah I perform Ruqyah for you).
Ruqyah is a form of du'a and supplication comprising of specific Quranic verses and prophetic invocations transmitted to us through the authenticated Sunnah of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ. At its core, Ruqyah is an act of worship, turning to Allah in complete reliance and submission, seeking His refuge, mercy, and cure. Its benefits extend beyond protection from spiritual and physical harm; it is equally a means of strengthening one's Iman and deepening one's Taqwa.
وَنُنَزِّلُ مِنَ الْقُرْآنِ مَا هُوَ شِفَاءٌ وَرَحْمَةٌ لِّلْمُؤْمِنِينَ
“We send down the Qur’an as a healing and mercy for the believers.” (17:82-2)

Conditions for Successful Ruqyah
01
Niyyah (Intention)
Ruqyah is a du'a, and like any act of worship, intention matters. Before beginning any Ruqyah treatment, take a moment to rectify your intention and turn sincerely to Allah. Your purpose should be clear you are asking Allah alone, by the words of His Book, to remove all harm and evil. Without the right intention and genuine belief that Allah is the only One who heals, no treatment can be truly effective.
02
Yaqin (Conviction)
Ruqyah should be performed with full conviction and certainty in the power of Allah's words. Recite clearly and audibly, with a firm and unwavering belief that it is Allah alone who provides the cure. Reciting without understanding diminishes the effectiveness of the treatment strive to know the meaning of what you recite, and let each verse be an affirmation of your trust and reliance upon Allah.
03
Patience and Consistency
Ruqyah is not a one-time action but an ongoing commitment. Consistency is essential, daily recitation, du'a, and adherence to your treatment plan are what yield results, by the permission of Allah.
